About the artist

Dmitriy Tsybenko is a glass artist and designer from Kazakhstan, based in Prague. He studied at the glassmaking school in Kamenický Šenov and later at the Faculty of Art and Design at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem. His practice focuses on kiln-cast glass sculpture and glass cutting. Drawing inspiration from nature, landscapes and light, he combines smooth, polished surfaces with rough textures, exploring the expressive possibilities and limits of glass. At ORIGIN 01, he presents Under the Water, a sculpture whose green and blue glass and undulating reliefs evoke an underwater world, creating a play of light and colour.

“Inspiration by nature in glass can take endless forms because nature provides us with such a vast wealth of inspiring phenomena.”
